Dogs do not have the digestive system to cope with grains. Grains are one of the biggest sources of allergies in dogs. Grains make up the majority of dog food company food sources. Many people find when they switch to an all natural diet, the allergies their dogs had disappear. This is common.

Not only is feeding raw cheaper to feed than commercial dog foods, but there are enormous savings to be made by not having all those vet visits to fix your dogs' allergies. Are you asking yourself yet, "why hasn't my vet recommended this?" Yes, I would ask that of them too. Unfortunately most vets receive NO education at university on dog diet other than what the commercial dog food company reps tell them! (yes, this is the education they PAY to get - unbelievable. Luckily, some universities are realizing this mistake and are making amends).

Female vs male personality traits

Are there patterns in the different personalities displayed by female animals vs male animals?
I have one female dog and one male dog. I also have two male cats and one female cat. Its seems consistent that the females are more emotional than the males. What's your thought on that?

Predator or Prey "Birds of"

A basic difference between dogs and cats vs. parrots is that dogs and cats are a predator species and parrots are a prey species. you can see this. Humans, dogs, and cats all have eyes that face forward.
Parrots (and horses and rabbits, for example) have eyes on the side of their head and thus have a wider peripheral vision, the better to see predators approaching! A person who trains and interact with horses well usually can also work well with parrots. If a bird is a little shy around you, approaching it with your profile, only one eye towards the bird, so you look less like a predator.

Bird Brain

Recently I've been brain storming about the term term "Bird Brain." I have know some parrots that are super smart. They can even hold grudges! So, in my computer search I typed in this term with some surprising results! Bird-Brain is some how linked with Scatterbrain which brings up ADHD. Wow!
Since my husband is ADHD does that mean that he is somehow linked to a Parrot? Woof, Polly want a cracker?

Surprise! Puppies Bite, Chew & Nip!

Why is it always a surprise that puppies bite a lot? I was even surprised that my second puppy was chewing on us so much. My husband had to remind me that the same thing happened on our first dog. Toddlers are very similar to puppies. Always sticking things in their mouth. Don’t panic. Redirect your puppy by exchanging your arm or pant leg with a squeekie toy. Little kids get a pasifier and puppies get a toy. Hopefully you aren’t raising a puppy and a toddler at the same time, as the pasifier might become a toy for the puppy!

Litter Box vs Adopting a Cat

Hey why does it come down to this? "I would love a cat, but hate the litter box." There are so many options that make that smelly job more interesting and less unpleasant. Yes, what goes in must come out! But, or should I say Butt, you have a lot more choices of litter types to choose from. You don't have to get that cheep clay litter that doesn't even clump. Yes! That is the super stinky one. Try the litter made from "wheat" or "corn." These are much better for the environment and they smell a whole lot better! Come on there are so many kittens and cats sitting in cages right now looking for a happy home.
